| An All-America candidate as a senior entering the 2003-04 season…All-ACC second-team selection as a junior in 2003…as a junior he was named to the ACC All-Defensive team in a vote of the leagues nine coaches and also by the media covering the conference…tied for fourth in the nation with 82 steals and tied for fourth in the nation with a 2.83 steals per game average as a junior…led the ACC in steals with 82 as a junior in 2003 – a total that ranks as the second highest single-season total in school history…Pickett had 16 steals more than NC State’s Clifford Crawford – his closest competition in the ACC race…became the first Seminole since Charlie Ward in 1994 to lead the ACC in steals during the 2002-03 season…only the third Seminole to lead the league in steals after only Ward in 1994 and Sam Cassell in 1993…the first non Maryland or Duke player to lead the league in steals since 1994…Pickett’s 2.8 steals per game average was the main reason Florida State averaged 9.4 steals per game to rank second in the ACC and 16th in the nation in team steals…led Florida State in virtually every statistical category including points per game (17.1), rebounds per game (5.7) and steals per game (2.8) in becoming the first Seminole since James Collins during the 1996-97 season to earn All-ACC second-team or higher honors…enters his senior season looking to become only the second player in school history to earn All-ACC first-team honors…Bob Sura, during the 1994-95 season, is the only Seminole men’s basketball player to earn All-ACC first team honors since the Seminoles joined the ACC for the 1991-92 season…led the ACC in steals and ranked second in free throw shooting percentage, second in 3-point shots made per game, sixth in scoring, sixth in defensive rebounds, 11th in 3-point field goal shooting percentage, 12th in rebounding and 12th in field goal shooting percentage…averaged double-figure scoring against all eight ACC opponents during his junior season highlighted by a 26.5 points per game average against Virginia and a 20.0 averaged against ACC regular season champion Wake Forest…originally signed with South Carolina after his first year at Indian River in 2001 but had his transfer denied by the Southeastern Conference…the SEC mandates players must complete at least three consecutive semesters at an institution before being allowed to enroll in a conference school…a consensus top-50 national junior college player prior to his arrival at Florida State for the 2002-03 season…sat out one year between Indian River and Daytona Beach and did not play organized basketball…is in his fourth year out of high school and is in his final year of eligibility at Florida State. |
