2011 Prospect Spencer Dinwiddie holds several offers and is receiving alot of interest from Maryland.

Class of 2011 point guard Spencer Dinwiddie has yet to start his junior season in high school, but is drawing interest from several top basketball programs.

The Woodlands Hills (Calif.) Taft product has heard from most of the Pac-10 schools, including UCLA, USC, and Washington, and also Georgetown, Kansas, and Maryland. He holds scholarship offers from UC-Santa Clara, Hawaii, and Montana State.

Dinwiddie has talked with Maryland Assistant Coach Rob Ehsan.

“He likes that I'm a big pass-first point guard that just gets the whole team involved in everything,” said Dinwiddie, “but I also have the ability to score.”

Dinwiddie has talked with Ehsan about possibly making an unofficial visit to Maryland. However, Dinwiddie said he is concentrating on his upcoming season and will start looking to visit schools during the summer.

Ehsan also told Dinwiddie to keep his eye on a current Terrapin player.

“He told me to watch Greivis Vasquez,” said Dinwiddie. “I like him. He's a big point guard.”

The 6-foot-2-inch junior, who said his strengths are passing and his outside game, said he is looking for “an up-tempo style of play that really gives the point guard a lot of freedom.”

He also wants to have an opportunity to play early in his career.

Academically, Dinwiddie is looking to study kinesiology or business in college. He scored 1800 on the three-part SAT.
