Future Terps Foes Weekend Recap

TSR's Carlos Olazagasti recaps how Maryland's remaining opponents fared this weekend.

The Maryland Terrapins fell to 1-1 in the ACC with a loss at Wake Forest on Saturday. Here's a look at how the rest of the Terps' ACC foes fared:

Virginia (Oct. 17 in College Park) routed Indiana 47-4 at home. Halfback Mikell Simpson rushed 15 times for 83 yards and four touchdowns, and quarterback Jameel Sewell completed 20 of 30 for 308 yards and one TD. The Cavaliers outgained the Hoosiers 536 to 272. Virginia is now 2-3 (1-0 ACC).

Duke (Oct. 24 in Durham) and North Carolina State (Nov. 7 in Raleigh) squared off in Raleigh and the Blue Devils came out with a 49-28 road win. The game belonged to Duke quarterback Thaddeus Lewis, who was 40 of 50 for 459 yards and five touchdowns. Lewis also added a rushing touchdown to his career day. NC State quarterback Russell Wilson could not keep up, completing just 15 of 27 for 172 yards with one touchdown and one interception. Duke is now 3-3 (1-1 ACC). NC State is now 3-3 (0-2 ACC).

North Carolina State (Nov. 7 in Raleigh): See Duke.

Virginia Tech (Nov. 14 in College Park) hosted Boston College (Nov. 28 in College Park) in what turned out to be a one-sided match, with the Hokies prevailing, 48-14. VT halfback Ryan Williams was extremely effect, amassing 159 yards and one touchdown on 18 carries. In fact, the Hokies ran the ball a total of 52 times for 235 yards and two touchdowns. BC quarterback Dave Shinskie would like to forget this game as he was just 1 for 12 for four yards and two interceptions before being benched. VT is now 5-1 (3-0 ACC). BC is now 4-2 (2-2 ACC).

Florida State (Nov. 21 in Tallahassee) lost at home to Georgia Tech by a score of 49-44. The Seminoles and Yellow Jackets traded touchdowns throughout the entire game, albeit in opposite ways. FSU quarterback Christian Ponder was 26 of 36 for 359 yards and five touchdowns, while GT quarterback Josh Nesbitt and halfback Jonathan Dwyer combined to carry the ball 41 times for 242 yards and five touchdowns. Florida State is now 2-4 (0-3 ACC).
