TSR speaks to 2010 prospect Avery Griffin about the recruiting process.

Baltimore City College wide receiver Avery Griffin is one of the nicest young men that you will talk to. While soft spoken, the 6-foot-2 Griffin is generally hopeful about his recruitment, even if it might not be the most active at this point.

At this time, Griffin indicated that Rhode Island is the school that is recruiting him the most, while Robert Morris is another potential suitor for the wide out.

The under the radar player, who had about 200 yards receiving last season, is intent on trying to get quicker and stronger in hopes of impressing his dream school.

“Marshall University,” Griffin said about the school he hoped would recruit him. “My idol went there (Randy Moss) and I went down there before with my cousin. I really liked the atmosphere.”

Another school that Griffin recently visited was Penn State for one of their summer football camps. While he enjoyed visiting the school, he was most content with what he learned during the camp.

“I really liked it,” he said. “They taught me a lot about different ways to get open.”

While Griffin would like to make a decision before the start of the football season, he appears willing to wait until offers begin to come in.

With continued exposure, through highlight tapes and camp appearances, it would not be surprising in the slightest to see Griffin get attention from some bigger schools. But right now he is most interested in getting ready for the season and thinking about his school’s game against perennial power Dunbar, which he says, “should be a great game.” Although the Terps have shown small interest in him, it would not appear that Griffin will end up running through the tunnel at Byrd Stadium.
