Robinson Talks About Decision

Scout.com talked with 2010 WR/DB Matt Robinson from Atholton High School (Columbia, MD). Robinson recently chose Maryland as his school of the future.

Matt Robinson called Maryland Head Coach Ralph Friedgen to give him the answer coach was looking for from recruits. "I talked to Coach Friedgen and told him I want to be a Terp," said Robinson. "He said he was very happy and wanted players like me in the program."

The recruiting interest for Robinson has really picked up in recent weeks. Not playing AAU basketball this season and instead getting to different camps and combines, Robinson has become a high profile recruit in Maryland and his recruiting momentum was just getting started. Robinson discussed why Maryland and why this early.

"Maryland has been straight forward with me. They have been the most honest and upfront of any of the FBS (formerly D-IA) schools. They said if I run well and perform well at their camp that I would have an offer. They honored their word. I felt I did my part at the camp and they did theirs with my offer. I have always liked Maryland. It is big time football and it is close to home for my family to see me play. I now have the trust factor with the coaches as well. I felt the time was right because this was the place for me and there is no sense in wasting anymore time for anyone involved."

On another note Robinson talked about his selection to the Maryland Crab Bowl in December. He will be on the Baltimore Team. "I am excited to be included in the initial roster selection," said Robinson. "It is an honor to be in the top All-Star game for the state. I will be able to play with and against the best in the area one last time. To be considered amongst the best feels good."
