TSR Interviews Terps 2010 commit Titus Till

TSR's Maddie McConnell talks with Terps 2010 safety commit Titus Till at the Baltimore Combine.

The conclusion of the football season didn't necessarily open up any time slots in the schedule of Terp commit, Titus Till. After the football season finished, he put down his cleats for a bit and picked up the basketball. He assisted his team in reaching the state championship game against Springbrook High School. Since the end of basketball season, Till has been running track to work on his first step and speed.

"[I'm] running the 100, 200, and 400 of course. I'm really losing weight, I've lost 5 pounds, and I'm down to 190 now," said Till. However, don't worry Terrapin faithful, he plans to gain that weight back before the football season by hitting the weight room. In fact, Till hasn't been able to completely stay away from the football field this off-season, which was evident in his participation at the Scout Combine in Baltimore on Sunday.

"Today I'm not really trying to impress anybody, I'm set as far as college goes. I'm just out here having fun and doing what I do," said Till when giving his reason for opting to workout at the combine. When asked on what he was hoping to run in the 40, Till bluntly said, "At least a 4.5, I'm not the most powerful explosive runner, but on the field I'm fast, that's all that really matters". During the combine workouts, Till showed great skill in his one on one match-ups, sticking with his receiver and showing how tough of a player he is, both mentally and physically.

Till expressed his excitement when discussing his decision to be a Maryland Terrapin for the 2011 season. After mentioning that he's been receiving the training in high school that is necessary to be successful at the college level, Till started to discuss what he will bring to the Maryland program. " I bring good character, [and] positive attitude towards learning. I'm a student-athlete first. My abilities on the field: [I'm] hard-hitting [and] I bring a lot of energy. I'm not the biggest talker, I talk with my playing" said Till. As for his feelings on the Maryland program as a whole, he simply stated with a smile, "I love it."

For the remainder of the off-season Till plans on working on his speed. His goal is to be a fast as well as a hard-hitting safety next year. He plans on competing in the upcoming Penn Relays.

TSR thanks Titus Till for taking the time to talk with us at the combine.
