Taylor Watson, a versatile 6-2, 225 tight-end/defensive end at the Brandywine (Md.) High School, will most likely play fullback at Maryland.
“He can play pretty much anything, but he’ll probably end up playing fullback,” said his coach at Gwynn Park, Danny Hayes.
“He’s real good at blocking and also can catch the ball out of the backfield,” Hayes said. “When you have a fullback who can do that, it really puts a wrinkle into your system.”
Watson’s name emerged seemingly from nowhere after strong performances last spring at the MSL Combine in Pittsburgh and while camping at Maryland this summer. He is the latest in a strong line of Gwynn Park player matriculating to Maryland, following in the footsteps of Wesley Jefferson and Quintin McCree.
We’ll have comments from Watson on Under The Shell later today…also, stay tuned for a recruiting chat with Northeast scout Bob Lichtenfels at 1 p.m.
