Gist and Good Counsel Cruise in Opener

Maryland's lone signee from the senior class took the floor for his first game and had no problem leading his team to a win.

James Gist began his senior campaign with a solid effort.

The 6-8 Good Counsel (Md.) standout, who averaged 14.5 points and 8 rebounds as a junior, scored 16 points and had 8 boards in a 68-27 rout at Barrie.

Gist missed just four of his 12 shots from the field and also swatted four shots in the win.

Good Counsel will have a big weekend, playing at Pallotti Friday night at 7:15 and then facging Eleanor Roosevelt and big man Jared Gaither Saturday at 3 p.m. at the Comcast Center.
