What did we learn during this second live period? Where do the Terps stand with their major targets?…
Robinson Breaks Down Top 6
"I had a very long list of schools, and I just felt it was time to get it down to a workable number," Robinson said.
Robinson, who is getting ready to attend the CP3 (Chris Paul) Camp for point guards, gave a brief comment on each school under consideration.
UNLV: "It's a school out West that's up and coming. They've been bringing in some very good players recently, and I have a lot of regard for Coach (Dave) Rice. They got in the picture a little late, but I felt they deserved consideration."
Providence: "Coach (Ed) Cooley is a great guy, and Providence was actually the first high major school to offer me. In their system, the point guards have a lot of freedom. I did some research, and the last two point guards there scored over 1,000 points and had a ton of assists. It's a guard oriented system, which I like."
Temple: "My mom is from Philly, and my grandmother still lives there, so I'm really familiar with the city. I love Coach (Fran) Dunphy, and the fact that two of my former teammates (Obi Enechionyia and Mark Williams) go there certainly is a plus."
Virginia Tech: "Coach Buzz (Williams) started recruiting me real early, almost like the first day he got the job, and offered me immediately. That says a lot about how much they want me in the program. I've got a really good relationship with the staff there."
Creighton: "Creighton really lets their guards play. I watched them a lot last year, and Coach (Greg) McDermott really likes to push the tempo. They're one of the better teams every year, and like the other schools on my list, they really need a point guard."
Maryland: "The entire staff at Maryland has really developed a great relationship with me and my family. It's a great school academically, and they've made it clear I am their top point guard priority. The fact that Melo (Trimble) is the only other point guard there now gives me an opportunity to play a lot as a freshman."
Robinson, as has been his habit, doesn't tip his hand when it comes to recruiting. No visits have yet been set up, but Robinson noted that "the officials will really play a big role in my decision. I haven't looked into the academic side of things too much, so I will pick up a lot of information on that when I am on those visits.
"At this point, I am not sure how many visits I will take. If I decide to visit them all, obviously one of them will have to be an unofficial (only five are allowed). School starts at St. James on August 16, so that's when I will set up the visit dates and get the process started. I would imagine some of those schools will want me to visit on football weekends."
We asked Robinson specifically about Maryland, but the Manassas, Va., native gave a very "political" response.
"I really don't have a favorite at the moment, and it would be unfair to single out any one school," said Robinson. "I like them all and no one has really separated itself from the others. I will go into this with an open mind, take my visits and make my choice at the appropriate time."
Based on this interview, it would seem like a decision could come in October, but we'll know more when actual visit dates have been established.
