Long and Diggs Go Down in Terps Loss

WINSTON-SALEM, N.C.--Maryland wide receivers Stefon Diggs and Deon Long suffered serious injuries in Maryland's 34-10 loss to Wake Forest on Saturday, October 19 at BB&T Field.

Long's injury On Maryland's first drive of the second quarter, quarterback CJ pitched the ball to running back C.J. who headed toward the left side line. Wide receiver Deon Long was blocking for Ross on the outside. At the end of the play Long and a Wake Forest player got their legs crossed, and Long appeared to get rolled up on by the Wake Forest player. Sophomore wide receiver Stefon Diggs also went down hard on the play as he tried to block a Wake Forest player, and was slow to get back on his feet.

Long remained on the ground as trainers surrounded him, covering his leg with a towel and moving him to a backboard. He was taken to an ambulance outside the stadium. Maryland Athletic Director Kevin Anderson checked on the injured Maryland receiver, and Long was transported the emergency room in the Wake Forest Hospital for X-rays.

Maryland finished the drive with 23-yard field goal from kicker Brad Craddock.

Long had four catches for 43 yards before leaving the game.

Stefon Diggs went down in the third quarter and would not return to the game
