No.1 seed Terps take on No. 4 seed Cavaliers

Chapel Hill, N.C.--The top seeded Maryland men's lacrosse team begins its ACC Championship campaign on Friday against Virginia. FOXSports Next previews the sam-final match up and discusses what the men's bracket looks like.

The Terrapins will face fourth-seeded Virginia (0-3) on Friday, April 26, at 5 p.m. on ESPNU in the first semifinal game. Maryland won the regular season meeting between the two teams, 9-7, in Charlottesville, Va., on March 30.

The Terps finished the regular season with an 8-7 win over Yale last Saturday. Maryland continues to be one of the best defensive teams in the country, holding opponents to only 7.3 goals per game (leads the ACC and third in NCAA).

The Cavs are 19-18 all-time in the ACC Tournament, and they hold the edge against the Terps 7-6 in the ACC. But Virginia do not fare too well in North Carolina's Kenan Stadium in the ACCs, going 0-2 all time.

Maryland and Virginia both average exactly 11.8 goals per game, however the Terps have the advantage on defense, holding their opponents to just 7.3 points per game while UVA allows 10.5 goals per game.

Virginia averages about 10 more shot per game than the Terps however when Maryland does shoot they are on target hitting their targets 61.5 percent of the time.

The winner of Friday's semifinal games will advance to the championship game on Sunday, April 28, at 1 p.m. on ESPNU
