Zeise still looking to improve after 2012

2014 prospect Elijah Zeise talks about his visit to Maryland.

Elijah Zeise helped North Allegheny win its third state championship in a row, but still sees room for improvement during his upcoming senior year.

Zeise, who is listed at 6 foot 2 186 pounds, mainly played cornerback for North Allegheny this year. However, he recognizes that he is going to have to play on both sides of the ball as a wide receiver next season and has to improve on the offensive side as well as working on some fundamentals.

He likes to be described as hard working. As a cornerback, he sees his size as a major strength in his game.

“My height and my hips are the best attributes I have,” Zeise said.

He visited Maryland's home finale against Florida State and had a good time on his visit.

“It was fun,” Zeise said, “It was very cool up in Maryland. I love their stadium, they have very nice facilities and the coaches seem very nice.”

Zeise also mentioned that he remains in contact with Assistant Head Coach Greg Gattuso over the phone and on Facebook.

“The uniforms are very nice, the facilities they have are very nice and Coach Gattuso was telling me about some changes they are making like the new fieldhouse,” Zeise said.

Academically, he is also very impressed by the Maryland's architecture program and is a very big reason why he is interested in Maryland.

While he currently does not hold an offer from Maryland he still lists them in his top five.

Pittsburgh and Temple have offered him and he plans to take a visit to Temple for their basketball game on Valentine's Day against Duquesne.

West Virginia and Rutgers rounds out his top five and he will probably visit Rutgers some time in the spring or summer.

At this point in his top five, distance doesn't really matter to Zeise because all the schools are pretty close, but not too close.

In the end, it is very clear what Zeise is looking for in a program.

“Stability, especially with the stuff going on with Pitt in the last couple of years and a family type of environment,” Zeise said.
