He's visited ACC schools Duke, Maryland, Virginia Tech, and Virginia, and also Big 10 school Penn State. Even though most of the schools on his list are ACC schools, Eberle was happy about Maryland's recent announcement that it is moving to the Big 10.
“It's definitely pretty cool that they're going to the Big 10, because that would be a really cool place to play,” he said, however he noted that the conference a school is in won't affect his decision.
Eberle visited the Terps for their game against N.C. State on Oct. 20, and enjoyed his time there, calling Byrd Stadium “really cool.”
“I liked their campus too, because it's not super spread out and it's really pretty. And the coaches are really nice,” Eberle said.
Still, his visits to Virginia Tech and Penn State stood out above the rest “because of the student and game-time atmosphere.” He also noted Virginia was nice and that he likes that they're getting an indoor practice facility.
Even though his high school team missed the playoffs this year, Eberle is not the type of player to ever give up, calling his perseverance his biggest strength.
“Even if our team is down, I always want to keep going. I'm really aggressive,” he said.
“I'm really hard working, I don't want to ever let anyone down and always want to keep everybody up.”
As a player, he looks up to DeMarcus Ware on the defensive end, because “he never wants to give up and he's always going hard.” Offensive-wise, he patterns his game after Logan Mankins of the Patriots.
“He's always hitting somebody as hard as he can,” he said.
He still has plenty of time before he needs to make a decision, but when it comes time to he wants a school with a good atmosphere, a good weight room, and a place where the coaches treat you like family.
Eberle, who is from Virginia and who is mostly considering schools in Virginia or the surrounding states, said it would nice to go to a school close-by because “it'd be nice to be near to family,” but he's not going to let that be the determining factor.
“I'm going to the school that stands out the most to me no matter what,” he said.
