REPORT: White Leaving UConn For NC State

According to a report, UConn tailbacks coach and special teams coordinator Clayton White will be hired as an assistant at NC State. White was a three-year starter at linebacker for the Wolfpack (1999-2001) before spending three seasons in the NFL.

The Dunn, North Carolina native started his coaching career in 2003 at Raleigh (NC) Sanderson High School where he coached defensive backs. He then spent two seasons at Western Carolina, where he coached defensive backs, and another at Western Michigan before heading to Stanford in 2007 for the same position.

In 2010 he left Stanford with assistant Willie Taggart for Western Kentucky, where Taggart was named head coach. White was hired at UConn in 2011 to coach tailbacks and special teams.

It is unclear what position White will coach at NC State. The Wolfpack has yet to hire a linebackers coach, but also could let White handle the safeties with defensive coordinator Dave Huxtable coaching the linebackers.
