Premier of Mark Turgeon Radio Show

Maryland coach Mark Turgeon discussed his teams improvements, preparations for Kentucky game, and more.

Turgeon was joined on the show by former player Eric Hayes and senior James Padgett.

The head coach was impressed with the play of freshman Seth Allen, Jake Layman, Charles Mitchell in Friday’s scrimmage.

Turgeon also complimented returning starters Alex Len and Nick Faust on their offseason improvements, saying they worked very hard all offseason.

Also he said Pe’shon Howard, coming off a knee injury is looking in shape and is shooting the ball very well.

Turgeon says this year’s squad is much improved from last years team, noting that they have a deeper rotation and better team chemistry.

He says he was very pleased with offseason recruiting, compliments coaching staff on hard work.

Turgeon says the team is very excited to play Kentucky in the first game on Thursday. He says the team needs to control the tempo of the game and keep it at a fast pace. Also he says strong defense is a must, saying they need to keep Kentucky out of the paint. Along with these things, he said they need to play smart offensively and take good shots every time down the court.
