Meet the Terps Offense: #40 Andrew Zeller

Meet the Terps Offense: #40 Andrew Zeller

College Park, MD. - TSR gets you acclimated with the 2012 Terps, first looking at the offense.

Player: Andrew Zeller

Hometown: Red Lion, Pa.

Class: Redshirt Freshman

Height & Weight: 6-foot-6, 295 pounds

Projected Position on Depth Chart: Backup tackle

The rundown: Zeller redshirted his first year as a Terp and will have four more years of eligibility. Zeller is a very physical tackle and can open up holes for the running back. At Red Lion High School, Zeller played on both the offensive and defensive line and was a Class AAAA second-team all-state selection in his senior season.

Expectations for 2012: Zeller is penciled in as the backup right tackle to Justin Gilbert. Gilbert has a history of missing a lot of time due to injuries and may not play more than half the season. If that is the case, Zeller will have to step up and take the starting spot. If the coaching staff does not feel Zeller is ready, a more experienced tackle such as Jake Wheeler or Peter White could take the starting right tackle position, keeping Zeller as the primary backup. Zeller should get some playing time in his first season on the field, even if it is in a backup position.
