Victor has "No Days Off"

Hyattsville football standout will do whatever it takes to be a Terp.

This summer, Northwestern High School's Darius Victor is certainly feeling the heat. “Basically, I have practice every day. I workout with the team Monday through Thursday 4:30-7:00 pm, and then I workout on my own the rest of the time,” explained the busy rising senior. “No days off.” That phrase has been echoed across the Washington, D.C. area by ambitious athletes and others ever since it was coined by local musician Wale. His motto is ambition, and working as hard as possible to achieve goals. As a matter of fact, the D.C. music legend was also a local star running back in high school. “I'll do anything that coaches want me to do on the field,” Victor revealed. “I kick, return kicks, block hard. Whatever it takes.”

The self-proclaimed “all-purpose back” would love to get a chance to become a member of the 2013 Maryland recruiting class. “I feel like I could fit in perfectly. College Park is practically my back yard,” mentioned the Hyattsville-area senior captain. “I've been up a couple times, and there's a great atmosphere. I remember being at the game against Miami last year, and thinking that I want to be part of a big time school like this.” Although he and Maryland have interest in one another, no offer has been given thus far. Other schools on Victor's radar are Temple, Connecticut, Buffalo, and Boston College, but Maryland's location makes it a top choice.

Senior year will be extremely busy for the three-year captain, with football as a top priority. Victor explained, “I want to take the team to the playoffs, and help the team any way I can first. Then, I hope to bring in more college interest, and improve on my stats from last season.” The 5'8, 210 pound captain compiled over 1200 yards and 19 touchdowns as an every down running back, while also fulfilling duties as a kicker, return man, and middle linebacker. It is likely that Victor won't miss snaps in the 2012 season. “That doesn't get to me because I am used to playing all the time. I like it better this way,” added the convinced do-it-all back. With a strong senior year, coupled by his willing attitude, Darius Victor has a chance to head on down the road from nearby Hyattsville to College Park and become a Terp.
