Zeller chose to become a terrapin mainly because of the campus, and overall upbeat attitude of the people surrounding the program. Also a major factor in his decision was, “The down to earth coaches,” said Zeller. Now, the Maryland football program has headed in a new direction, as Ralph Friedgen was bought out and new Head Coach Randy Edsall was hired. Zeller, who has mixed feelings on the situation, said, “I had a really good relationship with the coaching staff. We could talk on any level.” Zeller continued saying, “At first I was nervous, even a little stressed, but now I think that Coach Edsall’s hiring is a good thing.”
Head Coach Edsall and Zeller had a chance to meet during the spring on a recruitment visit. On this visit, Edsall left a stamp on the 6’-6”, 280-pound linemen, becoming one of Zeller’s favorite coaches that he crossed paths with, “I am very pleased with Maryland choosing him,” said Zeller. “I think it is a great opportunity to the future of the program.”
Zeller also thinks that the hiring marks the continued success the up-and-coming program will have, “This is definitely going to be a successful program. Coach Edsall is a great coach, he is going to take this opportunity and run with it,” said Zeller.
Although Zeller has previously verbally committed to Maryland, he reiterated that because of the coaching situation, it might not be his final decision. The offensive linemen plans to make his decision final on National Signing Day.
